With restrictions easing, and lighter days, our popular rides programme is making a come back. You will need to register for rides using our Eventbrite page, but the best place to find out about them is to follow our rides calendar and/or our social media. 

A seven mile round trip that packs in local history, parks and quieter roads including a stretch of riverside and an urban farm. Starting and finishing in Folkestone Gardens at Cafe Hönle, which is ideal as a meeting place, plus other cafes and stopping off points along the route. Suitable for families although some care is needed at traffic light crossing points. Full description and maps here...

Following a successful grant application, Climate Action Lewisham is teaming up with Lewisham Cyclists  to launch the Lewisham Family Cycling Library (LFCL). Our first event will be from 11am-3pm on Saturday 1st May, at the Catford end of Ladywell Fields, near the corner of Bourneville Road (See picture below right). However due to Covid restrictions, if you want to attend the library session and try out the new electric cargo trike, we have timed tickets where you can book a slot on Eventbrite to try it out. 

We will be running a series of events at which Lewisham residents can try out a wide range of family-oriented bike-tech. We are especially pleased that folks will be able to try our own Christiania e-cargo tricycle (pictured below left). There will be expert advice to guide you whilst trying the equipment with your children, in a safe space away from traffic. There will also be one of Lewisham Cyclists’ Dr Bike repair workshops for you to get those little repairs to your standard bike looked at.

Lewisham Cyclists are supporting this open day to showcase the restored park, mansion and swimming lake. We’re planning rides to get you safely to the park from various departure points across the Borough …..plus we’ll have our stall set up along with our cargo bike when you arrive for advice and support….

Lewisham Council are also running a Dr Bike session on site.

This is a critical election for London. The next Mayor must work quickly to build a positive recovery from the COVID crisis towards a zero-carbon future. Several candidates have expressed their support already, but some are calling for fewer cycle lanes and low traffic neighbourhoods.

20% of London’s emissions come from road transport. The way we cut that? Enable many more people to cycle. The next mayor must make that happen.

The London Cycling Campaign are calling on the candidates to:

1. Massively extend the high-quality cycling network, and fast
2. Give every Londoner access to dockless e-bikes and electric car clubs.
3. Create a fairer, simpler “smart road user charging” system.
